Maaku Angirish
Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Who Am I?
Hi there, I’m Maaku (pronounced ‘mark-who’), my pronouns are she/they, and I am a holistic psychotherapist and counsellor.
As we progress through life, we are constantly moving through learning and unlearning, un-knowing and knowing. While this inherent flow is often subtle, being able to notice it can be the difference between repeating old habits and stories, and stepping towards change and transformation. One of my goals in sessions is to help you to take steps towards and within this transition.

Sessions With Me
My general therapeutic approach is parts-informed, somatic, and holistic. I will respond to your needs both within the present moment and your therapeutic journey. My goal is to help you develop a stronger sense of your insight and self-awareness, learn how to integrate your experiences, and ultimately forge a deeper connection with yourself.

FAQs
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, unless otherwise specified I am available to see new clients. You can book in here.
Are sessions in-person or online?
Currently, sessions are only offered online via a secure Coviu link. There may be opportunities for in-person sessions in the future.
Is there an age limit for clients?
I currently see older adolescents, adults, and elders. I do not have the resources to accommodate young children, but am able to support older children / pre-teens. Please contact me for more information.
Do you see couples or families?
No, I only work with individuals. The exception to this is when I work with an underage client, in which case some sessions may need to include the relevant caregiver/s.
Can I use sessions from my Mental Health Care Plan referral from my GP for a Medicare rebate?
Counsellors and psychotherapists are not yet recognised by Medicare, and can't accept a GP referral. To manage this, I keep my fees as low as possible to help minimise your out-of-pocket cost.
I have an NDIS plan. Can I still see you?
I am not currently listed as an NDIS provider and am unable to offer services to clients with an NDIS plan.
What if I can't make any of the appointment times you have available?
Please email me and specify your preferred appointment times.
I need a letter of support. Can you help me?
Clients who have engaged in at least 3x sessions with me are eligible to request a letter of support. An additional fee may be required for this service. At present, I am not able to provide a HPR for students at UniMelb.
Have another question that hasn't been answered yet? Email me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
